If you run a small business, your website has one job: get the right people to call, book or buy. It doesn’t need to win design awards. It needs to load fast, explain what you do in a few seconds, and make the next step obvious.
That’s the kind of site we build. Advix Global Solutions designs websites for small businesses across the USA and Canada, including contractors, clinics, salons, consultants, local shops and service companies. Prices are fixed, SEO is included, and most sites go live in under two weeks.
What a small business website actually needs
After working with more than 100 businesses, we’ve found the real wishlist is shorter than most owners expect:
- A clear message at the top of the page. Who you help, what you do and where. A visitor should get it in five seconds without scrolling.
- One obvious next step. Call now, book online or get a quote. Pick one per page and make it impossible to miss.
- Real proof. Your own photos, Google reviews, licences, certifications, before-and-after shots. Stock photos of people shaking hands don’t convince anyone.
- A page for each service. Someone searching “emergency AC repair” should land on a page about AC repair, not on your homepage.
- Mobile first. Most local searches happen on phones. Tap-to-call buttons, short forms and readable text matter more than fancy animation.
- Easy editing. You should be able to change your opening hours or add a photo without paying a developer.
Everything else is a nice-to-have. We’d rather build those six things well than pile on features you’ll never use.
Common mistakes on small business websites
Many of the sites we redesign share the same handful of problems. If any of these sound familiar, your website is probably costing you enquiries:
- The phone number is hidden in the footer, or shown as an image so it can’t be tapped.
- The contact form asks for eight or ten fields. Every extra field loses people.
- There are no prices or even price ranges, so visitors leave to find a competitor who shows them.
- A slow DIY builder template that can’t be properly optimised for Google.
- Outdated content: last year’s offers, old team photos, a blog that stopped years ago.
We go through more of these in website design basics every small business site needs.
Why not just use Wix or Squarespace?
For some businesses a DIY builder is fine, and we’ll tell you so. If you only need a one-page online business card and have time to build it, go for it.
Where DIY falls short is growth. Once you want to rank for several services across different towns, send Google Ads traffic to proper landing pages, or connect bookings and a CRM, builder templates start working against you. You also don’t fully own a builder site. You rent it. With a WordPress site from us, the domain, hosting and login are in your name, and you can take it anywhere.
Then there’s your time. Three weekends spent wrestling with a template are three weekends not spent running the business.
Small business website design in the USA and Canada
We work with small businesses on both sides of the border, fully remotely. Communication happens over WhatsApp, email and video calls booked for your time zone, whether you’re in Florida or British Columbia.
Local search works a little differently in each country, so we set your site up for where your customers actually are: city and service pages, Google Business Profile guidance, and the right spelling and currency for your market. US businesses can read more on our website design in the USA page, and Canadian businesses on website design in Canada.

Built to be found on Google
A website nobody finds is just an expensive brochure. Every small business site we build includes on-page SEO from the start: keyword-focused page titles, meta descriptions, clean headings, fast load times, schema markup, and Google Search Console set up at launch. If search is your main way of getting customers, our SEO website design page explains the full approach.
How it works
- Quick call. Thirty minutes on your business, your customers and your goals.
- Fixed quote. Pages, price and launch date in writing, usually the same day.
- Design. You see mockups and request changes before anything gets built.
- Build and launch. We build, test on phones and desktops, connect analytics and go live.
- Support. Updates, fixes and help for 3 to 12 months, depending on your plan.
Most small business sites go live in 3 to 10 business days once we have your text and photos.
Frequently asked questions
How much does a small business website cost?
Our small business sites start at $1,199 in the USA and CA$949 in Canada. Traditional agencies often charge $3,000 to $15,000 or more for similar work. Our website pricing guide explains what drives the cost up or down.
How many pages does a small business website need?
Usually four to six: home, about, one page for each main service, and contact. It’s better to launch with fewer strong pages and add more later than to fill the site with thin ones.
Can I update the website myself?
Yes. Every site runs on WordPress, and we show you how to edit text, swap photos and add pages after launch.
Do you work with businesses outside big cities?
Yes, and smaller towns are often easier to rank in. A well-built local site can reach the top of Google in a small market much faster than in a major city.
