“How much does a website cost?” is one of the first questions any business owner asks, and it’s also one of the hardest to get a straight answer to. Agencies quote anywhere from a few hundred dollars to tens of thousands for what sounds like the same thing. Here’s what actually drives the price, and what you should expect to pay in 2026.
The three things that actually move the price
Number of pages and complexity. A five-page site for a local service business (home, about, services, contact, and one or two more) costs far less than an e-commerce store with hundreds of products, or a booking system with real-time availability.
Custom design vs. a template. A site built from a customized template is faster and cheaper. A fully custom design — unique layouts, custom illustrations, bespoke animation — takes longer and costs more, but it also looks and performs differently from every competitor using the same theme.
What happens after launch. A website with no ongoing support is cheaper upfront and more expensive later, once something breaks or needs updating and you’re paying an hourly rate to fix it. Ask what’s included after the site goes live, not just what it costs to build.
Rough price bands for 2026
- Simple business site (5–8 pages): the most common project for small and mid-sized businesses — a professional, mobile-first site that covers what you do, who you are, and how to reach you.
- Larger site with custom features: booking forms, multi-location pages, integrations with your CRM or payment provider, or a blog built for SEO from day one.
- E-commerce: product catalogs, inventory, checkout and payment processing add real development time, and the price reflects that.
We publish our own fixed pricing rather than quoting case by case, specifically so you can compare it against what you’re being quoted elsewhere before you commit to anything.
Questions worth asking before you sign anything
- Is this a fixed price, or will the number change once work starts?
- Do I own the domain, hosting account, and WordPress login — or does the agency?
- What’s included after launch, and for how long?
- What happens if I want changes after the first draft?
If you’d rather skip the guesswork, tell us what your business does and we’ll give you a fixed price and a timeline, usually the same day.
